I’m heading to Nashville this weekend to see my best friend Stephanie. She is one of my favorite people in the entire world and I am so excited to see her not mention get to hang out in one of my favorite cities.
One of the best things about visiting Stephanie is that she doesn’t over schedule our weekend with a lot of plans. There are always fun things to do throughout the day and night (hello Tootsies!) but we can usually find time to fit in a scenic run in her neighborhood. It’s a great time to catch up and at the same time burn some calories. There are a bunch of hills mixed into our run so some parts are harder than others.
And when we’re not running, we’re shopping – there are a lot of cute boutiques in and around Nashville. Once we’ve worked an appetite we’re are for sure eating. I promise I don’t work for the Nashville Tourism Council but honestly if you haven’t had a chance to visit Nashville you definitely need to book a trip.
There are a lot of things to do there. One of my favorite places to stop by is Arrington Vineyards just twenty minutes outside of Nashville. It is such a gorgeous property with great wines, rolling hills, and there’s usually a concert or event going on while you’re there.
When staying in Nashville make sure to check out the culinary scene because there are so many amazing restaurants on and off the beaten path. Stephanie goes out of her way to mix in places I haven’t gone to and she is always up for sharing a dish instead of ordering our own. That is a trait of hers that I never really appreciated until I started practicing better portion control this past year.
Since I’m staying past the weekend I get to enjoy a big family dinner at her parents house on Sunday and it is one of those meals that doesn’t seem to end – in a good way. Everyone pitches in and helps with a dish and there is a lot of laughing, memories shared, and always hugs – so many hugs.
Needless to say I am so excited to let loose, relax with my Nashville family, and spend some quality time with my bestie. I’m looking forward to getting some workouts in but I am also going to try and take it easy too. Between last night’s race, and back to back FlyWheel and Shred415 classes this morning I think I’ve earned it. I hope everyone has a great weekend celebrating Father’s Day.
