April Showers Bring Third Trimester Flowers

I’m not going to lie I have been dreading April since August. April 7th was my original due date and I wasn’t sure how I would get past that day without having some (ok a lot of) tears along the way. Even though I was so fortunate to get pregnant a month after my miscarriage it didn’t prevent those moments where I would cry over what could have been. But luckily those days have been few and far between. It also helps that I keep myself pretty busy so I haven’t had a lot of downtime to get too upset.

I’m incredibly grateful that I’ve had a healthy pregnancy this time around. I continue to have positive doctor appointments and I’ve been continuing to work out everyday and eat healthy which has prevented a lot of my anxiety of ruining all of my hard work these last few years.

Besides going to all of my regularly scheduled doctors appointments my husband and I signed up for a few pre-natal classes to help become better prepared for the delivery and for once we become a family of three. Our first class (Understanding Birth) was even on April 7th which was such a great way to honor that day and at the same time looking forward to the future. We learned a lot and it was great to experience it together.

And this weekend was one for the books. One of my best friends Jill and I turned an impromptu spa day into an overnight staycation at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago. Beginning our spa experience with a pre-natal massage for me and a facial for Jill, followed by a relaxing swim in their pool, we then enjoyed too much room service (complete with a DIY candy bar) while watching some of our favorite movies. We even managed to fit in a mini photo shoot before we checked out. As much as we love spending time with our husbands it was so great to get in some quality girl time and Jill is convinced I almost went into labor from laughing so hard.

Speaking of girl time my baby shower is at the end of this month and I’m looking forward to getting to spend the day with so many close friends and family members. It will be so nice to spend the day with the people I love the most.

So as I continue to move further along into my third trimester I will continue to enjoy every day as it comes and appreciate my changing body – stretch marks and all. Thanks to everyone for your tips and tricks along the way. Your encouragement and helpful advice has been greatly appreciated.
